Between Taco Bell’s Doritos Locos Tacos and Burger King’s Mac ’n Cheetos there is no lack of chips — or chip-like flavor — infiltrating fast food fare. Now, Taco Bell is upping its game, bringing a version of its Canadian Cheetos Crunchwrap Slider to the states.
The OC Register reports that Taco Bell plans to begin testing a Cheetos Burrito in the U.S. next month after the Canadian Cheetos Crunchwrap quickly became popular.
It’s unclear where the new burrito will be tested.
The Canadian version is a smaller version of the classic crunchwrap, but comes with the addition of jalapeno-flavored Cheetos stuffed between pieces of meat and cheese.
The U.S.-based Cheetos Burrito, which is stuffed with Cheetos, buttery white rice, seasoned beef, and nacho cheese, is just the latest product to roll out of Taco Bell’s test kitchen.
The company also announced this week that it has started tests of a Naked Chicken Chalupa — a taco with a shell made out of spicy fried chicken — in Kansas City, MO. It will also test new Walking Nachos — a portable nacho meal — in August in North Carolina.
“Consumers expect the unexpected from us,” Melissa Friebe, vice president of Taco Bell’s Insights Lab, tells the OC Register. “It is in our wheelhouse of reinventing tacos.”
