The Raiders of the Lost Walmart are the brave explorers who comb our nation’s retail outlets, finding the most ancient and most fascinating curiosities lurking in the electronics sections. Raider Wally recently found a trio of perfectly-preserved software packages from 2011 and 2012, their packages only marred by clearance stickers knocking a few bucks off the price.
Unlike most of the truly ancient (in computer years) finds that the Raiders uncover, these are only moderately old. Instead of an archaeology dig for antiquities, it’s more like finding century-old trash washed up on a beach.
As long as new virus definitions are available for the security programs, there’s nothing wrong with buying any of these products and using them. We’d argue that there’s something wrong with trying to sell them at prices that are much too high.
