Okay, so maybe more than three people currently own and use a Windows-based smartphone (though I’ve never actually seen anyone using one in the real world). Regardless, Delta has picked up a few tons of Nokia Lumia 820 phones to give out to 19,000 of its flight attendants for use during flights.
Lest you fear your flight attendants will now be too busy texting and playing Sudoko instead of charging you for everything that used to be included in the price of a ticket, Delta says the phones will actually be put to use for customer service purposes like credit card processing (for those aforementioned upgrades and add-ons) and the ability to scan coupons from passenger’s mobile devices.
Delta says that, in order to make sure that their flight attendants have the latest and greatest in barely used wireless operating systems, there will be upgrades over the next three years.
