McDonald’s Hopes You Won’t Notice Its Pumpkin Spice Lattes Are Not From Starbucks

Pumpkin spice lattes = dollar signs.

Pumpkin spice lattes = dollar signs.

If you’re one of those people who are sick, absolutely fed up with all things Pumpkin Spice Latte related, stop reading right now. For all of you who never get sick of finding new ways to ingest the stuff, McDonald’s would like it if you tried out their “new” McCafe pumpkin latte.

Mickey D’s has seen what PSL-fervor can do to a customer base whipped up by the frenzy of the fall season — a little something called 200 million PSLs sold since its debut in 2009. It’s just hoping now that you won’t mind picking up a latte at the fast food joint instead of Starbucks.

It’s even going to make the item a bit pricier than its traditional coffee offerings, just so you can get the same empty wallet feeling you achieve at Starbucks!

According to The Seattle Times , the mix of espresso, milk and flavored syrup will come in three sizes, with a 16-ounce cup selling for $2.89. That’s pricy compared to the $1 for a regular coffee at McDonald’s.

And just like the brief seasonal visit the PSL bestows on worshipers every year, the McDonald’s version will only sell from now until mid-November. Because no one eats anything pumpkin after November, she said sarcastically.

For the record, I have it on good authority from an ex-Starbucks employee that she and her fellow coworkers hated the PSL so much, they would require losers of work competitions to take a shot of the syrup as punishment. So you PSL-naysayers aren’t alone out there.
